( A primary ingredient of Cardio Life is Guar Gum fiber)
Long-term Effects of Guar Fiber in Subjects with Non- insulin- dependent Diabetes Mellitis Guar gum fiber improved tong term glycemic control, postprandial glucose tolerance and lipid concentrations. The C peptide response to a test meal increased with guar fiber treatment, whereas the insulin response remained unchanged. This indicates that insulin secretion is enhanced by guar fiber treatment as reflected by increased C-peptide. A decreased molar ratio of insulin to c-peptide suggests that guar gum may increase hepatic insulin extraction. In conclusion guar fiber has favorable long-term effects on glycemic control and lipid concentrationsAm J Clin Nutr 1993;58;513-8Other References:Anderson, JW, Dietary fiber and coronary heart disease, Department of Medicine University of Kentucky Crit Rev Food Sci Nutr 1990:29(2):95-147 Medline 90107419Dietary fiber and healthAMA council on Scientific Affairs.
